The purpose of the Homeless Ministry is to fulfill the Great Commission as instructed by God to tell others about Him. The Homeless Ministry feeds the homeless physically and spiritually with God’s Word. The homeless are visited and uplifted in prayer daily. Collections of food, clothing, money, and Bibles are requested to be distributed on these visits.
Gunpowder Baptist Church visits the Helping Up Mission in Baltimore monthly and provides dessert, witness, and sharing of testimonies with the men in the Mission. The homeless ministry continues to grow within GBC.

Each day, Helping Up Mission provides food and clothing to many of Baltimore's neediest women and children.
For over 50 years, Helping Up Mission has sponsored a one-week summer camp for approximately 60-70 inner city children, at no cost to their families. Camp Wabanna is located in Annapolis, Maryland.
Helping Up Mission programs are outcome based. One year after graduation, 80% of the
graduates are still employed and 70% are still drug-free.

Future Plans:
Increase long-term residential program from 160 to 210 beds.
Provide transitional housing for 50 graduates who do not have a
wholesome social setting to move into.
Find a new facility to house up to 150 emergency beds for
homeless who are not yet ready for recovery.
